Lamentations 3:22-23 // The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

There are two things that we can expect to receive continuously and without end whenever we come to the Lord---steadfast love and mercy. Like pumping water from an ocean, so too can the believer find an endless supply of these twin dispositions pouring from the heart of our Savior. Whether it be in the morning or the evening, in seasons of faith or seasons of doubt, when we are walking in faithful obedience or stumbling in our sin, here in lies an unceasing offer to the heart that has begun to wonder if their account with the Lord has once and for all dried up: there is no boundary line of divine mercy and love in Christ. Though our doubting hearts may think such a line exists, in truth, we who belong to Jesus will walk straight on into eternity having never come upon the gospel property marker we so often expected to find.

But we must also know that the bottomless love and mercy of our Heavenly Father is never stale. There is a daily freshness to it by which He calls us to bask in. Divine love and mercy are not merely doctrines to be studied in a theological test tube, but an experience to be had by the humble in heart. Many can say that the morning sun rose at such and such a time and is putting off this much light and heat, but only those who have put themselves beneath its brilliant rays may be able to say something of its warmth and brightness. The love and mercy of the Father are always new, not because they are somehow changing, but because we are finding them to be like an ever-expanding firmament of His faithfulness in each new season. What do you carry today that limitless love and mercy cannot bear up? Behold the love of the Father in the face of His Son and by the Spirit sing the morning song of the Redeemed. Great is His faithfulness indeed.
