- God’s saving purpose did not begin at conversion
- “Foreknew” carries covenantal love and relational choosing
- “Predestined” speaks of God determining a destination beforehand
2. A People Conformed (v. 29b)
- Conformity to Christ is the goal of salvation
- God is forming a family that resembles the Son
- Christ is the “firstborn among many brothers”
- Suffering is transformative in Romans 8
3. A People Glorified (v. 30)
- Called means God brings his people into the salvation he appointed
- Justified means God declares his people righteous in Christ
- Glorified means the end is certain
- No link in the chain breaks
